About this Event
Dyudyaeva, known for her unflinching artistic voice, is currently imprisoned in Russia for her work and political stance. This exhibition, her first in the United States, offers a rare and urgent glimpse into the realities of artistic resistance in the face of state repression.
Born in 1977, Dyudyaeva has long been a bold and uncompromising force in contemporary Russian art. Her work, deeply engaged with themes of war, oppression, and human rights, led to her sentencing in July 2024 to 3.5 years in a penal colony under charges of «public calls for terrorism» Her crime: distributing anti-war artworks in a supermarket.
«Life in Pr*son» is a testament to the enduring power of art as a means of protest and survival. Through stark, evocative imagery, Dyudyaeva documents the psychological and physical landscapes of incarceration, offering a deeply personal yet universal meditation on freedom and constraint.
This exhibition serves as a statement of solidarity with artists worldwide who risk everything to speak the truth.
Join us on March 13th for an opening night dedicated to art, resilience, and the fight for creative expression.
