Art Event: “Floral Fantasy” Decoupage Workshop

Looking for something fun and relaxing to do on a Saturday night? We’ve got you! Join us on May 22nd, 2026, 6-8 pm, at Akida Coffeehouse for a cozy sip-and-paint workshop. Only we’ll be “painting” with decoupage paper!

Decoupage — what’s that about? Decoupage is the art of decorating an object with beautiful patterns by gluing special paper cutouts onto it, adding intricate details and effects with paints or markers, and sealing the layers with varnish. A person who does decoupage is known as a decoupeur, or "cutter". Using decoupage paper, we’ll decorate a set of two tiles that you get to take home with you. Tiles could be used as coasters for your mugs or plant pots, or hung on the wall for everyone to see and admire. You may either make two matching tiles, or intentionally mismatch them — it’s your choice, dear decoupeurs!

This is more than just a class — it creates space for you to slow down, relax, try something new, and channel your creativity. The calming process of cutting and gluing paper is grounding, tactile, and deeply satisfying. Whether you’re a beginner or simply looking for a mindful creative escape, this workshop is perfect for you.
