Art & Wellness Retreat: Spring Awakening

Enter spring with a refreshed spirit! In this art & wellness retreat, you'll be guided through restorative meditation, movement, journaling, and art. Toghether, these experiences invite you to connect with and nourish your mind, body, and creativite spirit as one.

What you can expect:

Grounding meditation to connect with your breath as your source of healing and power.

Mindful movement with a beginner-friendly intro to Capoeira class. Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that was developed by African warriors enslaved in Brazil and used to fight for their freedom. The art form incorporates music, dance, and self-defense, offering a unique way to build strength through flow.

Restorative journaling and art, where you will explore what sides of yourself you want to nurture and unleash this year. You will make a creative vision board informed by your journaling that represents not only your goals but also your inner brilliance and how you will nurture your whole self and bloom. All art materials are provided to create your vision board, including options for painting, coloring, and collaging.

All materials and light refreshments (non-alcoholic drinks and snacks) provided.

There is free street parking on 20th St and metered street parking on Rhode Island Ave NE.

About the facilitator:

Alina Liao is a proud daughter of immigrants, trauma survivor, and mental health and wellness coach. Having struggled with mental health challenges and the belief that “wellness isn’t for me,” Alina is working towards a world where we can prioritize our wellbeing with love and ease. Alina makes customized wellness journals and provides healing-centered journaling and art workshops, focused on natural creative expression and human connection as paths to healing. She is passionate about providing affirming spaces for people to center their wellbeing. Alina is also an avid practitioner and teacher of Capoeira with the community based nonprofit The Capoeira Spot. Alina is trained in trauma-informed, culturally responsive mental health coaching.
