The LES GITANS BLANCS PROJECT embodies an inspiring dialogue among Manouche Swing and Jazz musicians. This project brings together four exceptional musicians to explore i, learn, teach, communicate, and ultimately create the Urban Manouche Swing, Gypsy Jazz, Jazz, and World Music — or simply put, MUSIC.
The synergy within the LES GITANS BLANCS PROJECT comes from the diverse backgrounds and musical influences of its members, creating a vibrant tapestry of sound. Their repertoire mirrors the zeitgeist, delivering infectious tunes on acoustic instruments that effortlessly find their way into your ears and straight to your tapping feet, clapping hands, and snapping fingers. Inspired by legends like Django Reinhardt and Stephan Grappelli, as well as both traditional and contemporary gypsy jazz artists worldwide, their music defies categorization but is simply referred to as MUSIC.
Originating as a project in 2008 by Visual Artist, Art Educator, and Musician Robert Zunic, the band initially performed in Adelaide and throughout South Australia. However, the reach of LGB's performances extends internationally and across state borders, appearing at numerous concerts and festivals.
"The White Gypsies" have left their mark on various live radio shows and festivals, including prestigious events like Womadelaide, the Kite Festival in Singapore, Auburn Frenchfest, and the Adelaide Guitar Festival, among others. Their appearances on platforms such as the Today Show on TV Channel 9 and 3D Radio-live concert have further solidified their presence in the music scene.
Throughout the years, a multitude of talented musicians have contributed to the LGB Project, each leaving their unique imprint on the band's evolving sound and direction. Notable collaborators include Robert Zunic, Dido Durmanovic, Chris Martin, Lyndon Grey, Tomislav Kovacev, Ben Parkin, Julian Ferraretto, Elizabeth McCall, John Hunt, Julian Pitch, Pascal Nigon, Roly Dankbaar, and Nebojša Miletić.
Adaptable to any setting, LGB's performances range from intimate duos to full orchestral ensembles, showcasing their passion for music and the stage. No venue is too grand or too small for the White Gypsies Project, as they continue to captivate audiences with their music.
Over the years, LES GITANS BLANCS have released two albums featuring original compositions and beloved Gypsy jazz classics: "Macro" in early 2014 and "Blue Django" in late 2019.
