Anurag by Spruha Kulkarni
Experience Anurag, a powerful Bharatanatyam solo by Pune-based performer and choreographer Spruha Kulkarni.
With over twenty-five years of training and a Master's degree in Bharatanatyam, Spruha's artistic journey is rooted in rigorous classical training under Smt. Swati Daithankar and Shri Vaibhav Arekar, along with further exploration of Navarasa Sadhana at Natanakairali, Kerala. Her engagement with theatre and performance has shaped a distinctive artistic voice that blends classical vocabulary with contemporary sensibilities.
Anurag is a deeply personal exploration of a woman's journey towards reclaiming her body, femininity, and inner consciousness. Through movement, music, and emotion, the performance traces an awakening to desire—fragile, fierce, and transformative. The body becomes a site of memory, longing, resistance, and revelation.
In a dialogue with her own reflection, the protagonist asks:
What does it mean to be at ease in my own eyes?
What is it that truly connects us?
As these questions unfold, she embraces her emotions, longings, and desires with honesty and courage. Anurag is an intimate and evocative performance that celebrates self-acceptance, agency, and the profound act of belonging to oneself.
Join us for an evening of thoughtful storytelling through Bharatanatyam, where tradition and contemporary experience meet in a deeply human narrative.
