Arsenic and Lies is a beginner-friendly murder mystery larp focused on character relationships, secrets and scandals.
The year is 1919. The final hour of the year is ticking away.
You are gathered at an opulent country estate to celebrate New Year's Eve with the Weatherby family. Outside, a blizzard cuts you off from the rest of the world. The servants have the night off. There is nobody else for miles.
For a couple of hours, you'll confide in friends, betray rivals, exchange secret vows with lovers, uncover hidden agendas, and pursue your own personal ambitions. Every character has a Secret and a Relationship that will shape the story.
At the start of the game, you'll choose a character, a secret, and a relationship, then create your own backstory together with the other players. One player will secretly become the murderer and decide who falls victim as the evening unfolds.
This is not a traditional murder mystery with clues to collect or a puzzle to solve. Instead, the focus is on improvisation, dramatic relationships, memorable scenes, and creating a story together.
No experience is required. Just bring a bottle of wine, your best 1920s energy, and a willingness to embrace intrigue, gossip, and betrayal.
