ArosOpen - the Danish Championship in Modelbuilding 2026 - is the annual model competition and gathering for model builders that meets at Strandskolen in Risskov north of Aarhus.
The event will take place on September 19 and 20 this year.
It is possible to rent a table so that you can sell kits and we can build together. Several stores have stands with building kits, and all the accessories, tools, paint and much more that go with them. There will also be workshops, lectures, etc.
On Sunday the competition takes place, while building activities and sales stands are still open. The competition culminates with a prize presentation on Sunday afternoon.
This year's theme class in 2026 is: "The 1980s"
This year we have chosen the theme "The 1980s". How you interpret the decade is entirely up to you. It can be iconic cars or motorcycles from the period or something more symbolic that captures the mood of the decade, the end of the Cold War, or what you think of when you think of that decade. You can, for example, take as a starting point the conflicts of the time and the tensions of the Cold War – for example the Soviet Union's war in Afghanistan, the Iran-Iraq war. Or it can be weapons and military technology from the 80s.
In this category, your model will be judged based on three parameters:
- Creativity – how you exploit the theme in relation to your model.
- Relevance – how well your model reflects the 1980s, and how clearly it is linked to the decade.
Finally, your model will be judged according to the same criteria as all other models in the competition.
