Armenian Film Festival Australia returns to Melbourne
Armenian Film Festival Australia (AFFA) is continuing its 10th anniversary celebrations, with the remainder of its 2026 programme bringing acclaimed international cinema and cultural experiences to audiences in Melbourne.
Following successful festival screenings in Sydney and Adelaide, AFFA’s anniversary programme arrives in Melbourne from 30 October to 1 November, building on the momentum of the national festival and celebrating a decade of sharing Armenian stories with Australian audiences.
The 2026 festival showcases some of Armenian cinema’s most compelling voices, including fan favourite Precious Boys, the quirky comedy directed by Arsho Harutyunyan that was crowned Audience Choice Winner at AFFA’s Sydney Awards Ceremony.
Highlights of the Melbourne 2026 festival include:
- Melbourne Opening Night: A red-carpet reception featuring Armenian food and wine, offering guests the opportunity to connect before a screening of A Winter’s Song, the first English-language romantic comedy filmed in Armenia.
- Award-winning cinema: Precious Boys, a quirky comedy directed by Arsho Harutyunyan, which was voted Audience Choice Winner at the Festival Awards Ceremony in Sydney.
- Best of AFFA: Anniversary screenings revisit some of the festival's standout films from its first decade, including the festival's first film ‘Aram, Aram’, which continues to resonate with audiences years after its original screening.
Audiences in Melbourne can look forward to a diverse selection of films celebrating Armenian stories, history and identity, with screenings offering opportunities to discover acclaimed works and emerging voices from Armenian and diaspora cinema.
