Arise & Go’s Buffalo Debut with special guests Crikwater! Join Arise & Go and Crikwater for an amazing night of various traditional Irish tunes and songs. This one is not to be missed!
Arise & Go is an exciting Celtic trio that finds its roots in the dance music of Ireland, Scotland and Atlantic Canada. Blending pipes, whistles, fiddle, and guitar, the group’s varied musical backgrounds combine to produce a sound which is both grounded in tradition and uniquely fresh and driving. From intimate house concerts to festival stages, Arise & Go has been hailed for their “precision and energy”.
Winners of North America’s longest running live folk radio broadcast Best of Bound for Glory Award, Arise & Go has been featured on NPR’s Thistle & Shamrock radio program and in Irish Music Magazine, Roots Music Canada, The Boston Irish Reporter and the Irish American News where they have been praised for “musical complexity and colour” that is also “authentically mindful of tradition.” The recent release of the band’s full-length album Meeting Place saw members Ellie Goud (fiddle), Michael Roddy (uilleann pipes, border pipes, smallpipes, whistles) and Tim Ball (guitar, foot percussion) showcase the different Celtic traditions that each brings to the group’s sound.
Arise & Go formed in 2016 in Ithaca, New York, after meeting at the long-running Irish session held at the legendary Chapter House bar in Collegetown. As of 2020, the band is multinational, with Michael and Ellie now residing in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Conceived in a late-night, Guinness-fueled campfire song session, Crikwater was born in the rustbelt working-class neighborhood of South Buffalo, NY in 2010, and has grown into the premier Irish-American Traditional Folk Band in Western New York. With numerous festival appearances, including: the Buffalo Irish Festival, South Buffalo Irish Festival, Niagara Celtic Festival, Hornell Irish Festival, Southern Maryland Celtic Fest, Crikwater boasts four multi-instrumentalists, two Irish Echo Awardees, and stays true to the venerable Irish and American folk traditions while having an energizing live performance. With arrangements that include multi-part vocal harmonies and intricate musicianship, they infuse the music through a contemporary filter making centuries-old music feel fresh and alive! Equally at home in pubs and festival stages as they are in theaters and listening rooms, these veteran performers offer up a mix of fiery fiddle tunes, rowdy pub sing-a-longs, haunting airs, elegant ballads & original songs, and their music conjures scenes of gritty smoke filled Irish pubs, whiskey, pints of stout, and good craic!
