Arctic Ear Elevator is a one-day music and art event organized by the independent record label Mutual Recordings. The evening brings together three different music artists: Sebastian Boulter, Lovers of All Kinds, and Tunnwli, whose performances will intertwine with one another and be installed around the space, offering diverse ways to experience sound and visual art depending on where attendees are positioned. There will also be video art, audiovisual projections, and performance art happening alongside continuous live music throughout the evening.
Sebastian Boulter's Carrousel is his first album, released in 2024. The music is composed for piano, Hammond organ, marimba, pianet, and cymbals, incorporating elements of classical, traditional, and experimental music. The inspiration for the compositions derives from resistance to the Roman idea of "bread and circuses for the people." The concert at PLEX will feature presentations of the album, with adapted versions of the compositions.
Sebastian Boulter is an Athens-based artist whose work encompasses visual arts and music. He has composed for small chamber groups, contemporary dance troupes, performances, visual art installations, theater, and film.
Lovers of All Kinds combines unbridled psychedelia, analog synths, heart-wrenching ballads, and Schönbergian interludes with a unique yet gritty avant-garde touch. Founded by Finnish composer Teemu Takatalo in 2020, the band has collaborated with musicians such as Jimi Tenor and Jaakko Eino Kalevi. For their performance at PLEX, the band will present a selection of previously unheard material, specially adapted for the space and architecture of this unique venue.
Tunnwli delivers an eerie, heartwarming blend of whispers and groans over polyrhythmic ethereal beats.
