Join us on an architectural walking tour through Vallila, a district built in the 1920s as a residential area for the working class. What needs and ideals shaped its origins? What kinds of new solutions were architects and planners seeking to improve housing conditions? And why did the picturesque Wooden Vallila “fail” to meet its original expectations?
Dive deeper into the layered history of Vallila with the Architecture & Design Museum Helsinki. All walking tours are written by the museum’s in-house experts and guided by knowledgeable museum guides. These tours are part of our 2026 summer season series exploring some of Helsinki’s most fascinating residential areas.
