About this Event

November is National Native American Heritage Month

A time to honor the living cultures and ongoing contributions of Indigenous peoples. Archeology plays a vital role in this observance, helping us understand, protect, and uplift Indigenous stories that continue to shape our parks today.

Enjoy Hands on Archeology Activities for Families

  • Dig up "artifacts" in the excavation box
  • Practice throwing a rabbit stick and atlatl spear at a target
  • See genuine local artifacts on display
  • Learn about the difference between archeologists and paleontologists
  • Become a Junior Archeologist and earn a special patch!
