Archaeology Site Tour: Digging into Weedon Island’s Past

Professional archaeologists with the Alliance for Weedon Island Archaeological Research and Education (AWIARE) and the University of South Florida will lead participants out to an active excavation site at the Preserve! Researchers will share details of the on-going archaeological studies at Weedon Island and teach participants about the local Indigenous history of Tampa Bay. This guided tour is for adults and youth ages 10+. The tour will be ~2 miles in total length and will traverse uneven, natural paths.

Capacity is limited on this exclusive tour so registration reserves your spot(s); a $25/attendee fee will be collected at the start of the tour.

Proceeds will benefit AWIARE and support their mission to promote and facilitate long-term archaeological research, scientific exploration and public education at the Weedon Island Preserve and the gulf coast region.
