Join us at Little Village in Historic St. Andrews for our next Archaeology on Tap program!
“Widow on the Bay: The Strange History and Archaeology of Captain David Blood and St. Andrews, FL” will be presented by Dr. Jason Wenzel from Gulf Coast State College.
In 1841, David R. Blood arrived in St. Andrews Bay in a ton and half black-coated sloop later named the Widow. Soon he established residence in the heart of St. Andrews City, a bustling community where he played a curious role until his departure in 1857. In this presentation, Dr. Wenzel will provide a biographical sketch of Captain Blood in the context of the archival history of St. Andrews and recent archaeological work by Gulf Coast State College and the Bay Anthropological Society of his former home site. Other current research projects in the Old Town community of St. Andrews in Panama City are discussed.
“Archaeology on Tap” is just like our long-standing program ArchaeoCafé…just hosted at a local brewery instead of a restaurant! “Archaeology on Tap” is free and open to the community, but is recommended for adults. Seating is unreserved. The talk starts at 6:00 pm CDT and guests are recommended to arrive by 5:30 pm to place drink orders and claim a seat before the talk begins.
