An important Viking settlement and an archaeological site of national significance, we welcome back archaeologist Antoine Giacometti to update us on all of the developments and discoveries that have taken place since his previous visit.
In 2024, an excavation at the former De La Salle National School and Monastery in Ballyfermot unearthed 32 human skeletons dating from around 500 - 1000AD. A large enclosure, human remains, and more, have been identified at the medieval site and evidence indicates there was a significant Viking settlement during the second half of the first millennium.
