The City of Wayzata is excited to announce an Arbor Month celebration, scheduled for Saturday, May 18 from 9:00 - 12:00 p.m. on the Panoway Plaza! Begin the day by volunteering in City gardens from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. for the annual Dig It Day!

Following the volunteer portion, the following activities will take place from 11:00 - 12:00 PM:
Free Potted Shade Tree Giveaway – Residents are welcome to register their name for a potted tree to plant on their Wayzata property. Species include Swamp White Oak, Black Walnut, Ironwood, Serviceberry, and disease-resistant American Elm, which will be delivered to the homes of following the event.
Champion Tree Contest – The City of Wayzata will be accepting submissions to its second annual Champion Tree Contest, where residents can nominate a tree with an especially tall canopy or wide trunk for a chance to win one of two gift cards to local tree nurseries. The winners will be announced one week later through the City’s social media channels.
Informational Speaker – Guest arborist, Manuel Jordan, will discuss the significance of Wayzata’s tree canopy and share thoughts about how we as a community can make it more resilient.
The City of Wayzata invites all residents, tree enthusiasts, and nature lovers to join us in celebrating Arbor Month!

11:00 - 12:00 Register for a free tree, listen to guest arborist speaker and more!
All are welcome from 11:00-12:00 for the program and tree giveway, regardless of volunteering prior.
