Arabia Mountain Heritage Area Alliance proudly presents an evening of art of and books with Kyle Brooks and Andrea Jurjevi´c! This special Arabia Reads event will feature writers who are also artists. Come to Black Dot Cultural Center on Thursday, October 3 for some beautiful artwork and books by resident Heritage Area artist Kyle “BlackCatTips” Brooks (author of the children’s book Smile a While) and poet and artist Andrew Andrea Jurjević, author of the recent poetry collection In Another Country. Attendees will get to hear the latest from Brooks and Jurjuević’s writings as well as browse (and buy) their artwork!
ABOUT THE AUTHORS:
Andrea Jurjević is a multigenre writer, literary translator, and visual artist. She was born and raised in Rijeka, Croatia, in the former Yugoslavia, before emigrating in the late ‘90s. English is her second language. After her arrival to the United States, she studied Journalism, started a painting practice, and a decade later earned an MFA in Creative Writing. Kyle "Black Cat Tips" Brooks - A BlackCatTips is a painter and muralist. A BlackCatTips is a poet and a thinker— a teller of tales. A BlackCatTips is Kyle Brooks, a street folk artist from way down in the American South.
