($25-$35 | 7pm Show) Join us in Club Congress for a very special edition of Tablao Flamenco! La Emi will be making the trek from New Mexico as a very special featured guest. This performance will also feature dancer Jorge Robledo (cante) Misael Barraza-Diaz (guitarra) & Daniel Azcarate (cante).
***La Emi***
A prominent performer, teacher and organizer in the state, La Emi, a New Mexico native, began studying the art of Flamenco with the María Benítez Institute for Spanish Arts (ISA) at the age of 4. In 2014, La Emi founded her own dance company, EmiArteFlamenco, and in 2017, she founded both EmiArteFlamenco Academy, a school for students of all ages, and Flamenco Youth de Santa Fe, a children’s company that performs for communities all around New Mexico.
***Angelina Ramirez*** is a flamenco movement artist and teaching artist based in Tucson, Arizona. Her work explores queer, Latinx identity in traditional flamenco dance and focuses on arts and healing, particularly for elders and autistic individuals. She promotes accessibility, fights ableism and racism, and curates the Traditional and Ethnic Dance Festival for the Southwest Folklife Alliance.
***Misael Barraza Diaz*** is a distinguished Mexican guitarist who graduated with honors from the Master in Guitar Alicante and obtained a second Master's degree from the University of Arizona. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts and studies under renowned artists such as David Russell, Sergio Assad, and Odair Assad.
