This Month we here from one of our great local speakers Dane Hritz as he talks about Keeping tanks outside year round.
Bio:
After purchasing my first home in 2020 it was only a matter of time before aquariums outgrew the space I had inside, and it was time to push the fishkeeping hobby outdoors. This talk explores my experience keeping fish year-round in a small, low-cost greenhouse. I will break down the various costs of setup and maintenance, along with the pros and cons of different methods for maintaining stable water parameters. I will share both successes—such as the species I have bred—and the challenges-such as other creatures that might find your tanks appealing- all while managing fish through Florida’s harsh outdoor conditions. This will go along with discussing a variety of fish that thrive in outdoor systems. Whether you keep livebearers, anabantids, cyprinids, or something in between, you will come away with practical tips tailored to different species and fishkeeping styles.
