Aqualumina Workshop: Shibori River Suits

Please join us for a Shibori indigo dyeing workshop to create a tie-dyed and painted River Suit to wear in Aqualumina’s lantern parade on May 9.

Visual artist Rebecca Kelly will host two workshops on Saturday, March 14 and 28 from 11 AM to 3 PM. Rebecca will lead a demo from 11 AM to noon, followed by a lunch break. The workshop resumes from 1 to 3 PM. These workshops are held at ArtYard Workshop, 62A Trenton Ave., Frenchtown.

Limit 10 participants per session. The workshop is $20.

Participants should bring their own white cotton clothing to dye; thrift-store finds work well. If you need to buy an item, suggested options include:

River Suits may be paired with any illuminated aquatic headgear of your own making, such as iceberg fascinators, rain cloud hats, and the crocheted coral hats produced in the preceding Aqualumina Festival.

Aqualumina is a nighttime riverside lantern festival of music, visual art, and community, and a celebration of the beauty and vulnerability of the Delaware River and river systems worldwide.
