About this Event
Join us for April's Kollab - a warm and welcoming evening of music and words.
We've got the cream of the crop when it comes to local talent: Poetry from Lewes' Anna Free, and music from Shoreham's Jed Cutler and Brighton's Bloody Tourist. More about all of them below.
Kollab takes a break in May so even more reason to get yourself along.
Open mic slots will be limited and first come first served. We ask everyone to buy a ticket, whether you're getting up on stage or not, we're all part of making the event happen together. All forms of creativity welcome, email [email protected] to be added to the list.
There's no bar, so please bring your own drinks, hot or cold, alcohol or otherwise.
*We'll start promptly at 7pm*
Looking forward to seeing you,
Katrina x
ANNA FREE
Poet, comic, facilitator, and healer, Anna’s words and rhymes surprise, tickle and ruffle.
Brighton Hammer & Tongue Slam Champ 2024, Fringe Award winner and longlisted poet with an MA in Comedy Writing, Anna is a firm believer in the healing power of humour, creativity and connection. Whether on stage or in a workshop, Anna will make you laugh, think, and feel something, even if only fleeting.
JED CUTLER
With humble beginnings in the deep south, of England, Jed first picked up the guitar at age 11. He grew up in a household with eccentric parents and a healthy input of a variety of music, from Bach to Mississippi John Hurt. With a deep joy of playing all kinds of music he also carries on the flame of old time blues, jazz and gospel music in his solo performances as well as a deep love for improvisation.
BLOODY TOURIST
Bloody Tourist is a Brighton-based indie-electronic duo blending jangly guitars, warm synth textures, and hypnotic rhythms. Their music pulls from a wide mix of influences—The Velvet Underground, Steely Dan, Beyoncé, Daft Punk, and more—creating a sound that’s both nostalgic and fresh.
With support from Lauren Laverne and Emily Pilbeam at BBC 6 Music, the duo is part of Brighton’s Talk Show Host Records collective, bringing a DIY spirit and an eclectic touch to their sound. Bloody Tourist is best experienced live—so grab a pint, lean in, and let the music take you somewhere new.
KOLLAB FEEDBACK
"Wanted to say thank you for a really lovely open mic last night. This morning was the first time I have woken up feeling joyful without and dread dreams in the night for about two weeks. You created a really safe space and welcoming event. Loved your poems and they way you perform them is so engaging and absorbing. Marvellous. Thank you"
"Kollab last night was fab, and you hold the space in such a lovely, relaxed, friendly, helpful, kind, and yet still very organised (!) way. Also, amazing poetry! I've never been to anything like that before. I enjoyed it so much I will definitely be aiming to come to more"
