**Pre-Registration is REQUIRED for this program.**The April Full Moon is known at the Pink Moon. It is the first full moon after the Spring Equinox. The Pink Moon is not named for its color, but for the abundance of pink wildflowers that begin to bloom in the forests in springtime. We will walk along the Accessible Bobwhite Trail at Seven Islands by the light of the moon, and discuss the nocturnal animals, including owls, insects, and bats that live in the park. We will look and listen for evidence of them as they emerge from their daytime hiding places and check out the beaver dam near the island. Please dress for the weather and come prepared to walk approximately 2.5 miles on both paved and unpaved trails. We suggest that you bring flashlights in case they are needed, but ask that you only use them when necessary. Red or other colored lights are preferred.
Registered participants should plan on meeting Ranger Clare at the Bluebird Barn at the main entrance at 7:30 pm. Only registered participants will be allowed on the hike and in the park after sunset since the park closes at sunset. Registration is $12 per person. If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact Ranger Clare at [email protected].
