In April we will welcome Louise Courtney, a consulting medical herbalist, who has completed a four-year advanced diploma in Herbal Medicine with Heartwood College, accredited by the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. The term herbal medicine refers to the therapeutic use of medicinal products derived from plant extracts from roots, leaves, petals, bark and seeds. Plants have been used for medicinal purposes for millennia.
Louise will discuss the herbal and natural approaches to managing the menopause transition from early stages of perimenopause to post-menopause, including the use of herbs for symptomatic relief hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety, and cognitive instability (to name but a few!).
She will also discuss the use of herbs on their own or in conjunction with HRT, and lifestyle and diet modifications that can help to alleviate some symptoms and make the transition more comfortable and for sustainable good health in later life.
