Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
About this Event
LivingWorks ASIST: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
Join I Fit Out, LLC for a FREE two-day, in-person LivingWorks ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) in Robeson County.
LivingWorks ASIST is designed to equip participants with practical, life-saving skills to support someone who may be thinking about suicide. Through presentations, discussions, video examples, small-group activities, and hands-on skills practice, participants learn how to recognize invitations for help, respond with confidence, and work collaboratively with a person to develop a SafePlan that helps keep them safe-for-now and connects them with ongoing support.
What You Will Learn
Participants will learn how to recognize when someone may be thinking about suicide and approach them with care and confidence; develop a SafePlan; use a structured safety framework; understand how personal and community attitudes about suicide can influence help-seeking; and build confidence to provide Suicide First-Aid in real-world situations.
ASIST is recommended for anyone age 16 or older who wants to help keep others safer from suicide. No previous experience or training is required. This training can benefit community members, parents and caregivers, educators, healthcare and behavioral health professionals, peer support specialists, first responders, faith leaders, human service professionals, and others who want to strengthen suicide prevention within their communities.
