Next Plant and Seed Swap!
Sunday, July 19th, 2-3pm
Peak Church Parking Lot
1200 N Salem St. Apex, NC
The format we did for the June swap was awesome! Let’s do that again.
One thing to note is that it will likely be quite hot, so please bring plants in some moist soil or something wet so they aren’t too shocked by the heat.
Here’s the plan:
🕑 Folks are welcome to arrive a little early, but not earlier than 1:45pm.
🔎 Host/volunteers will set up the following zones:
🌻 Native Plants
🌵 Non-native Plants
🍅 Veggies/Fruit
🫚 Herbs
🌱 Seeds
🪴 Indoor Plants
👭 Items brought for specific people (labeled with their name)
On the knoll is the No-Swap Zone: place for people to place items they have claimed to keep them safe.
Each zone will have a table with labeling supplies and a volunteer if available to answer questions and offer guidance.
From 2-2:15pm folks can work on the following:
- Making a name tag
- Setting their things in the appropriate zone and labeling them properly.
- Checking out what other folks brought
- Socializing with your fellow gardeners
2:15: Host will welcome everyone, make announcements and briefly go over the rules.
Bells/Chimes/Horn (whatever noise maker the host brings)
🕑 1st (2:20pm): 1st round of swapping. Take only 1 thing from each zone.
🕑 2nd (2:30pm): 2nd round of swapping. Go back for seconds - 1 think from each zone.
🕑 3rd/Final (2:40pm): Anything goes! Whatever remains is up for grabs!
📜 Other norms/vibes/guidelines:
🍅 It is okay to come empty handed for your first swap or two, but you are encouraged to bring something to support the community.
🍅 Suggested non-plant/seed things you can bring: permanent markers, small containers for plants, bags, envelopes, labeling stakes, cardboard boxes, folding tables, helping hands for setting up and cleaning up.
🍅 Vibes: generous, abundant, sharing, community building, social, learning, giving, intentional, kind, courteous, intergenerational, multicultural, inclusive, supportive, and safe.
