EAA Chapter 36 is proud to welcome Pilar Wolfsteller, Senior Editor at AOPA's Air Safety Institute and a commercial pilot/CFI, for a safety seminar you won't want to miss.✈️ "Trapped in the Hills: Deadly Complacency"
A father and son — both private pilots and natives of Monterrey, Mexico — were returning home from a weekend flying adventure in Burnet, Texas on a chilly November day. As they approached the Mamulique Pass just miles from home, intense mountain turbulence and a sinking ceiling closed in. Trusting their deep familiarity with the terrain, they aimed for a narrowing gap between the overcast and the hills ahead...
Pilar will walk us through this tragic accident and the hard-earned lessons it offers every pilot about how familiarity can become complacency.
Topics covered:
Complacency
Instrument currency
VFR into IMC
Loss of Control – Inflight (LOC-I)
🎖️ FAA WINGS credit is available for attendees!
Open to pilots, student pilots, and aviation enthusiasts of all experience levels. Members of neighboring EAA chapters and the general aviation community are warmly invited.
