About this Event
Join us for the Poverty Liberation Collective’s (PLC) first-ever Anti-Poverty Pop-Up Museum on the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. This unique event offers an opportunity to explore the realities of poverty and the power of mutual aid through interactive exhibits and community connection.
What to Expect:
🖼️ Three Galleries:
- What is Mutual Aid? Discover the history and impact of mutual aid, and learn how communities come together to support one another.
- The Myths and Realities of Poverty: Understand the systemic nature of poverty and challenge common misconceptions that many Americans are just one crisis away from experiencing poverty.
- The Bread & Roses Project: Inspired by the historic Bread and Roses Strike, this space highlights the importance of joy as a human right, offering a place to relax, create, and reflect.
🍽️ Free Community Meal: Enjoy a meal provided by Third Way Peace Fellowship at our “Museum Café,” a space to share food and conversation.
🍧 Snow Cone Truck: Stop by the snow cone truck from 6:00 - 7:00 pm for a refreshing treat while supplies last.
🎁 “Gift Shop”: Take home buttons, bookmarks, zines, and other items from the PLC. You’ll also find information on how you can get involved by joining the PLC or bringing this museum experience to your community.
Accessibility and Inclusivity: We aim to make this event as accessible and welcoming as possible. Features include:
