Join the Sanhedrin Chapter of CNPS to learn about the diverse oaks of Low Gap Park, improve your ID skills, and enjoy the fall weather in your local park. We’ll have a short introduction to the oaks of the park with hands-on examples, and then take a walk and look at examples of the species you’ll find in our area. California has over 25 oak species, many of which are found in Mendocino County. While there are confusing hybridizations, varieties and subspecies, it's not hard to get to know the common trees of our area. Once you get comfortable with the local oaks, you’ll see so much more going on in the landscape.
This event is free, but we ask that you please register in advance so we know how many are attending. Register by filling out the Google form below:

Where: Meet at Low Gap Park in Ukiah, at the picnic tables near the parking area
What to bring: yourself, warm clothes, water, and a notebook if you like to take notes
Cost: Free, although we’ll have some oak ID cards for sale for $10 if you want them
