Our essay contest is open to all students residing in the Groveland and Mascotte areas.Division 1: 12 years and younger
Division 2: 13-18 years
The top ranked essayists from each division will be chosen to read their essay to the judges on March 29th 2025.
Cash Prize
1st Place: $50
2nd Place: $25
The contest will be judged by Jason Brown, President of the Groveland Historical Society, and Sharon Keeble, Editor of the Clermont Sun.

Essays must:
Be received by March 18th, 2025
Cover a topic that pertains to the history of a person,
place, or event within the state of Florida.
Be between 1,000 to 2,000 words.
Strive for historical accuracy.
Use at least one source from inside the Groveland
Historical Museum or from our website:
www.GrovelandHistory.org/p/timeline.html
Include citations in MLA or APA formats (Division 2 Only).
Be orally presented by the student in 15 minutes or less.
