About this Event

Annual DICE Lecture 2026
The DICE Lecture is a public event given each year by a distinguished scientist or practitioner on an important conservation topic. It is also annual get-together where we celebrate the achievements of our students, staff and alumni. This year it will be presented by Professor Nathalie Pettorelli OBE, from the Institute of Zoology.

Join us in the Templeman Lecture Theatre on 13th March at 6pm. Bookings required, limited seats available.

Title: Why we need to talk more about ecosystems

Professor Nathalie Pettorelli is a conservation biologist with expertise in biodiversity science, climate change ecology, environmental management, statistics, remote sensing and programming. Her work focuses on producing knowledge that deepens our understanding of the processes driving biodiversity loss and helping identify solutions that are likely to support nature recovery in times of rapid global environmental changes. Among other things, Nathalie is a member of Defra's Biodiversity Expert Committee; the co-chair of the inter-commissional IUCN rewilding working group; the Editor in Chief of Remote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation; and Soapbox Science co-founder.

Alongside Professor Pettorelli's lecture, Professor Bob Smith will be sharing a recap of DICE's activities over the past year and celebrating the achievements of our community.
