Before backpacks are packed, lunch boxes are filled, and school routines begin, join The Maternity Diary for our Annual Back-to-School Family Picnic at the beautiful Cochrane RancheHouse. This family-friendly gathering is all about slowing down, enjoying quality time together, exploring one of Cochrane's most beautiful historic sites, and building connections with other local families before the busy school year begins. Whether your child is starting kindergarten, heading into high school, or somewhere in between, this is the perfect opportunity to create one last special summer memory together.
What to Expect
🥾Family Scavenger Hunt Adventure
We'll kick off the afternoon with an exciting family scavenger hunt through the beautiful Cochrane Ranche Historic Site. Working together as a family, you'll solve clues, complete fun challenges, and discover some of the site's most treasured landmarks including the magnificent (fallen)Grandfather Tree, one of Cochrane's oldest and most iconic cottonwood trees. Along the way, you'll learn a little local history while creating wonderful family memories.
🏛️ Historic Museum Exploration
We will end the scavenger hunt with a visit to the historic museum and heritage buildings, where families can explore Cochrane's fascinating ranching history together.
🧺 Community Potluck Picnic
Nothing brings people together like sharing a meal! We'll gather for a relaxed community potluck picnic, where each family is invited to bring a favourite dish to share with everyone. The Maternity Diary will provide light snacks, but the heart of our picnic is the wonderful variety of dishes shared by our community. It's a great opportunity to meet new families, reconnect with familiar faces, and enjoy delicious food together.

After lunch, we'll enjoy an afternoon of exciting outdoor games for both children and adults.
