Cornhole tournament taking place at Anchor Roofing headquarters near Scheels. First place prize of $500, second place $250 and third place $125 and subject to increase based on entries.
Sudden death format. Winning teams move on until we have one team remaining.
Rules:
Cornhole is played by tossing bags onto a raised board with a hole, scoring points for bags on the board or in the hole, with the first team to reach 21 points winning.
Objective: The goal of cornhole is to be the first team to reach or exceed 21 points at the end of a round. Teams score points by landing bags on the board or through the hole, using cancellation scoring to determine round points.
Equipment
Boards: Two boards, each 2 feet wide by 4 feet long, with a 6-inch diameter hole centered 9 inches from the top
Bags: Eight bags total, four per team, each 6×6 inches and weighing about one pound, filled with corn or resin
Playing Area: Boards are placed 27 feet apart from front edge to front edge on a flat surface
Players and Teams
Doubles: 2 vs. 2, with teammates standing at opposite boards
Teams alternate throws, with each player throwing four bags per round.
Gameplay
Starting Team: Decide with a coin toss or other method.
Throwing: Bags must be thrown underhand from behind the front edge of the board (foul line). Stepping past the line results in a foul and zero points
Rounds: A round ends after all eight bags are thrown. The team that scored in the previous round throws first in the next round
Scoring
Bag in the hole: 3 points
Bag on the board: 1 point
Bag off the board or foul: 0 points
Cancellation Scoring: Only the team with the higher score in a round earns points. The lower score is subtracted from the higher score, and the difference is added to the winning team’s total
Maximum points in a single round: 12 (all four bags in the hole).
Fouls
Stepping past the foul line while throwing
Bags that touch the ground before landing on the board
Throwing out of turn
Fouls result in zero points for that bag
Winning
The first team to reach or exceed 21 points at the end of a round wins the game
