Annual 5K Run & Walkathon - Heritage Program Fundraiser Held @Vedic Cultural Centre

Come join us for a fun-filled day at the Vedic Cultural Centre for our Second Annual 5K Run & Walkathon! Lace up your sneakers and get ready to hit the pavement for a good cause. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just looking for a leisurely stroll, this event is perfect for all fitness levels. SUPPORT OUR MISSION:

The Vedic Cultural Centre (VCC) annually hosts the Celebration, Honouring and Remembering of the Journey of the first Indians to the West under British Indentureship, as well as their struggles and triumphs after arriving and surviving under the cruelty of plantation owners, overseers and colonial masters.

This year will mark the 27th iteration of the exhibits, performances and presentations under the banner of Indian Arrival Day which acknowledges both the resilience of our people and the lessons learned about our history, even as we celebrate the second voyage of migration from the Caribbean to Canada and across the world.

Your generosity directly supports this meaningful event, and the programs, research, reports, films and media which helps us keep our heritage alive, enriches the multicultural nature of our country and supports our goal of increasing harmony among the peoples of Canada. We further extend an invitation to you and your family/friends to join us as we commemorate the 188th Anniversary of the Arrival of Indians in the Western World on May 23rd, 2026 at the Vedic Cultural Centre, 4345 14th Avenue, Markham, Ontario.

Where Your Donations Go:

✅ Cause #1 – HVAC replacement. Our aging heating and cooling systems are failing and in urgent need of repair. The system is 30 years old and is outdated. The VCC provides programs and services to children, families and seniors. Many visitors to the VCC experience mobility and health challenges.

✅ Cause #2 - Development of forums, educational materials and sharing of cultural and professional resources to enable our people, as well as the general public, to better understand our contributions to the Caribbean and to Canada.

✅ Cause #3 – Preservation and enhancement of our cultural artifacts and exhibits, some of which are over a hundred years old.
