About this Event
22 Women, two Ghost Stories told by Women, and a Ducking Stool !
Hear all about a philanthropist, a naughty peeress, a famous poet’s sister, a Bronte godmother, an irritable Postmistress, a novelist, a female architect, the first lady mayor, a dance hostess, an orange seller, and even a ‘tart’.
Add Ann Walker’s pub, a 19th Century woman who helped black slaves in the USA, and a 20th Century artist with an American mother. Plus two ghost stories told by women, and the storage place for the Halifax Ducking Stool!
All are Halifax heritage stories.
This is a Brand New walking tour created by David Glover and we are pleased that David who is our Vice Chair has kindly chosen and supported the work of Halifax Civic Trust to offer this walking tour.
Come and join as David brings these stories to life on a tour around Halifax on Heritage Weekend!
This walk is part of the Anne Lister Memorial weekend, and is a female-leaning walk. It will end at the Moot Hall site in Halifax next to where is starts.
The start is by the Cenotaph next to the car park off King Street.
The duration is 2 - 2.5 hrs.
The walk is suitable for dogs, and wheelers.
The walk is a fund raising walk for Halifax Civic Trust. Our events take place in all weathers and as this is a fund raising walk we do not offer refunds on the days before due to inclement weather.
We hope you will come and join as we celebrate and learn more about Anne Lister.
