About this Event
Angie is a Japanese-American cellist based in London. She holds a Bachelor of Music with Honours from the Royal College of Music, where she studied with Raphael Wallfisch. At the age of thirteen she studied with the Tchaikovsky Competition winner Nathaniel Rosen and is a Dean’s List graduate of the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division, where she studied under Ole Akahoshi.

Angie has won the Jury Award from the Tokyo International Association of Artists Competition, the Honour Award at the Cecilia International Competition, and the Elan and Director’s Choice Award for her leadership in the ISSH Orchestra in Tokyo. She was selected for the Tokyo University of the Arts Early Education Project Masterclass, became the youngest guest artist at the Chofu International Music Festival, and was later invited on scholarship for a masterclass with Mischa Maisky at the Stauffer Accademia in Cremona. In 2024, representing Japan, she welcomed His Majesty Emperor Naruhito during his state visit to the Royal College of Music.
As an orchestral musician, Angie has performed in major venues including Suntory Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall, and has collaborated with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe through the college. She has served as principal cellist of the RCM Philharmonic Orchestra, RCM Opera Orchestra, and the Kanto Plain Orchestra. She also recently toured with the Gotham Philharmonic Orchestra for the Batman (1989) in Concert.
Alongside her performing career, Angie is a dedicated educator and has a huge love for teaching. She currently serves as a teacher and orchestral mentor at Hounslow Music Service Ltd, teaching at schools across London, and regularly mentors the Sue Hadley Orchestra.
Steven Neugarten is a versatile pianist and sometime celesta and harpsichord player with a degree in Physics from Bristol University. He's performed with notable musicians including Thomas Adès, Alison Balsom, Raphael Wallfisch, and in prestigious venues such as the Barbican and Wigmore Hall. His repertoire spans William Byrd to contemporary composers, comprising chamber music, songs, and piano concertos. He works at the major London music institutions - GSMD, RAM, RCM, TrinityLaban - and performs at events like the Swaledale Festival, Venice Biennale and as part of the team providing Christmas music at the Ritz Hotel.
He has twice run the London Marathon.

The London Sketch Club’s concerts aim to give promising musicians the opportunity to perform pieces of their choice in an informal setting while members and guests spend an enjoyable afternoon. The concert is relaxed, so music lovers of all ages are welcome. There will be music, tea, coffee and biscuits.
The London Sketch Club is a lively private members’ club for both professional and amateur artists. The club holds life drawing and portrait sessions where members, and non-members, sketch and draw in a unique convivial atmosphere. We also hold concerts for members and the public.
