This retreat is an opportunity to transform your relationship with anger and unlock its vital energy for healing, growth, and positive change!

🤐 Anger is taboo.
Given all the spiritual traditions and methods out there that promise us to get rid of anger, or those that offer to communicate it in a super-managed way to avoid saying “I am angry at you” at any cost, it is safe to assume that anger is commonly a taboo emotion. Duh. That is quite understandable though. Many of us have been raised with explicit or implicit messages from parents “you’ll get my love if you’re a good girl/boy, i.e. if you are not angry”; others have witnessed or experienced the damages of verbal and/or physical violence. These lead to equate anger with danger (danger of being abandoned or attacked).

🔥 An Invitation: A Third Way.
Then, many of us grow up being scared of our own or others’ anger and have learned different strategies to shut it down, shame it, or rationalize it. The issues with that? Repressed anger causes physical and mental health issues in the long run, such as chronic muscle tension (especially in the jaw, neck, and back), migraines, anxiety or emotional numbness etc. Not mentioning that acts of violence are very often explosions of unprocessed/re­pressed anger. On a less spectacular note, we may trick ourselves into rationally forgiving people, while anger actually still lingers, leaving us having lukewarm, passive-aggressive, unsatisfying relationships. Does any of this feel familiar? Anger is a normal emotion any mammal experiences. What if there were a third way? A mindful way to directly express anger without bypassing? What if directly expressing anger could actually be safe and connecting, or even fun and juicy? We dare you to try. Join us.

🙋‍♀️ What Will We Do?
Through movement, embodiment, mindfulness and play, we will co-create a conscious and relational container. We will also gently explore your personal relationship to anger: the fears, defense strategies, shame and learned patterns that shaped it. In this way, we honour the parts of you that once helped you survive difficult or overwhelming experiences connected to anger. The process will be held by experienced, trauma-informed facilitators, drawing from movement-based, relational and therapeutic approaches such as Internal Family Systems, Dance & Movement Therapy, Playfight, Gestalt therapy and breathwork — always in service of what is alive in the moment.
Disclaimer: You are always invited to listen to your own limits and take care of yourself, we won’t push anybody. Yet, this is more on the side of surfing giant waves than sailing on a lake. As much as we’ll do our best to go as slow as needed and keep the work safe, there will be opportunities to get triggered. In case you are struggling with PTSD or are on medication, we advise you to check in with yourself and your therapist whether this retreat is for you. Feel free to contact us as well! This is an alcohol-free retreat, as we wish to create a space of full presence, clarity and attunement — with yourself, others and the process.

Laura Freimane creates embodied and relational experiences where people can explore emotions, boundaries and aliveness through the body. Her work integrates Dance & Movement Therapy, Playfight, mindfulness, somatic exploration and Rebirthing breathwork, supporting participants to meet intensity — including anger — in grounded, conscious and connecting ways. She is trauma-informed and attentive to consent and individual pacing, creating containers where depth and play coexist. www.sajutisevi.lv
Clem Lafon is providing spaces for humans to experience self-acceptance, deeper emotional connection to and exploration of themselves and others.
