About this Event
A selection of Andrew Wilk’s work in the arts will be center stage in a wide-ranging interview when he’ll discuss their genesis and the many creative challenges he faced, showing how they were addressed. He’ll also talk about a few of the headliners who helped make those productions award winners. After the video-illustrated interview, hosted by Y’s Man of Westport/Weston Past President John Brandt, he’ll answer questions from the audience. The presentation is a collaboration with the Y’s Men’s Classical Music Society.
For more than four decades, five-time Emmy-Award-winning producer, director, musical theater and symphony conductor, and writer Andrew Wilk has been capturing the performing arts for television. He has recorded performances of all genres of music, from musical theater such as “The Nance,” and “Sweeney Todd starring Emma Thompson,” to solo artists such as Kristin Chenoweth, Joshua Bell and Itzhak Perlman, as well as dance performances including the Alvin Ailey Dance Company and the San Francisco Ballet for prime time broadcast. Most recently Wilk served as executive producer of “Live From Lincoln Center,” where, for almost a decade, he created a variety of award-winning musical and theatrical productions for PBS.
Closer to home, he created The Westport Library's continuing speaker series, “Andrew Wilk Presents.” The series features high-profile personalities gathered from his extensive professional relationships at the National Geographic Channel, Sony Music and more recently, at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
