Honouring Andrew’s ImpactThe bike polo community in Australia and New Zealand has lost an irreplaceable leader and friend, Andrew Tipene on the 24 of January 2025 aged 50 years. Andrew’s passion, kindness, and leadership shaped not only bike polo across Australasia but also the lives of everyone lucky enough to know him.
He played an integral role in our community; whether it was helping us get going with the Flagstaff Court, building boards, or bringing tournaments to life with his high energy MC. More than that, Andrew was the kind of person who made you feel heard, supported, and part of something special.
To celebrate his life and the impact he had on all of us, we’re organising a Memorial Ride in his honour, for us to get together as a community and reflect on how brilliant he was.

Meeting Point: The Great Northern
This ride is open to everyone in our community, someone from work or beyond (please feel free to come), whether you knew Andrew through bike polo or simply as a friend who brought light into your life.
The ride will start at Flagstaff Gardens, visiting some of Andrew’s favourite bike polo locations, including Carlton Gardens and Princess Hill, before finishing at The Great Northern Hotel (approx. 4pm).
Pace: This will be a gentle ride, suitable for everyone.
