BENT HORSESHOE and The Hokowhitu Bowling Club PRESENTS Andrew London and the Silver Hammerson
Thursday 29th October
7:30 pm at a cost of $25 each.
Tickets at the door.
We don't usually do a gig on a Thursday night but this was the only date that we could fit this band.
Most of you will have seen Andrew before but probably not with this band.
The Beatles were a band that changed music forever and we all have our favourite memories and songs from this era.
I have not actually seen the Silver Hammers but many of my friends have and they al say its a great show.
They don't try to copy the songs but do them in their own way.
I have seen all these musicians before and they are all great, but they are all good vocalists as well.
We are really looking forward to this gig as we love anything Andre and Kirsten do but we also love the Beatles and we have heard so many good things about this show.
Andrew and Kirsten London play a repertoire of fab Beatles songs with spirited assistance from Anje Glindemann (drums) and Ramon Oza (guitar).
From the romance of McCartney's ballads to the acerbic bite of Lennon's cynicism and the rockabilly style of George Harrison, the Silver Hammers cover the Fabs' career output from Please Please Me to Let it Be and everything in between (well not everything obviously). The influences that acted on the Beatles’ songwriters are made clear - from the 1940s boogie-woogie that generated Lady Madonna to the Bossa Nova trend that brought forth No Reply and the huge effect that early Elvis and Buddy Holly exerted on the young songwriters Lennon & McCartney. Sing along with Here Comes the Sun and Nowhere Man before you rock out on Hard Day’s Night and Can’t Buy Me Love!
