About this Event
Formerly known for her days touring with the radical feminist folk trio, Rebecca Riots, long time Berkeley resident Andrea Prichett is developing her new sound with a band that will make its debut performance right here at The Back Room. With the help of a full band behind her, Andrea will deliver original tunes that range from tender acoustic ballads to upbeat folk rock/ blues. Performing songs mostly from her recently released album, The Frame, the new band is a more intimate version of the extravaganza that made her 2023 CD release party at the Freight & Salvage such a huge success.
For many years, Andrea played venues around the Bay Area and the country as part of an all women trio that developed a folk sound composed of close harmonies and acoustic guitars. As satisfying as that was, Andrea also had a deep love of the blues, R&B and the Motown sound. In fact, she credits much of her vocal style to the years she spent singing along with Stevie Wonder records and recordings by Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Bonnie Raitt and others. Her years singing in a gospel church choir also contributes to her rich, bluesy vocal sound. Her other influences include those of singer/songwriters such as James Taylor, Carole King, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and Joni Mitchell, among others. In this latest configuration, Andrea reconciles her love of spare, acoustic styles with the soul and R&B beat that has been such a foundational a part of her musical journey.
Andrea is supported by several outstanding musicians including:
Michaele Goerlitz - previously a member of Wild Mango and Blazing Redheads, Michaelle's drumming and percussive style is eclectic and influenced by jazz, Middle Eastern, Afro-Cuban, Venezuelan rhythms among others. She is a sought-after studio musician and teacher.
Deb Hungerford - Deb co-wrote several songs on The Frame, and performs regularly with the cover band, Shake It Booty Band. Also formerly a member of Blazing Redheads, Deb provides masterful support on both keyboards and piano.
Isaac Coyle - A recent graduate of the Berklee College of Music and an El Cerrito native, Isaac contributed both upright and electric bass lines on The Frame. He is steeped in jazz and rock influences that lend a solid foundation to this original repertoire.
Tyler Valentino - This talented, versatile guitarist also happens to be local. Tyler's influences include garage rock, funk, grunge, Motown and more. With studio and performing experience with his band, Same Girls, he can rock out and expertly navigate lead lines that are tasteful and sensitive.
