Lifted: The Brain Wellness Center in Norwalk is celebrating their teaching artist, Colleen Hains. Lifted: The Brain Wellness Center is a holistic wellness facility located in Norwalk, Connecticut. It focuses on helping individuals in the early stages of dementia or mild cognitive decline through a variety of innovative and compassionate approaches. One of those many approaches is teaching oil painting. That is where Colleen comes in. Colleen has taught oil painting at Lifted since the doors opened in March 2024. Being an oil painter for over 40 years, Colleen’s passion is portraiture. She has painted 23 women which is her show entitled “Women in Their Natural Beauty”. All 23 oil painting portraits will be exhibited at Lifted: The Brain Wellness Center. With Colleen’s clients at Lifted the focus is on eye catching landscapes and enriching a style they already have or developing a style. Even the staff joins in to paint.
Not so surprising, Colleen has painted Heather Gately, Lifted’s CEO, and Donna Spellman, Lifted’s Executive Director. Many of her paintings are of women Colleen admires in this brain wellness industry. “I have painted some family members, but amazingly without purposeful planning, more than 50% of the paintings are of women who support the brain wellness industry. Lifted’s leaders Heather and Donna have provided a terrific venue for early stages of mild cognitive decline. I am honored to be part of the work they are doing.”
