The Yakima Valley College Drama Department presents its fall production, “Wild Oats,” with performances scheduled for Nov. 12-14 and 19-21 at 7:30 p.m. in YVC’s Kendall Hall Auditorium on the Yakima Campus.
Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 seniors and $10 for students and staff. Tickets may be purchased in advance at yvc.booktix.com.
“Wild Oats” delivers a rollicking ride through the Wild West, blending mistaken identities, unlikely reunions and over-the-top frontier antics into a laugh-out-loud comedy. Adapted from John O'Keeffe's classic 18th-century Restoration comedy, this fast-paced farce trades English drawing rooms for dusty saloons, open prairies and a cast of colorful Western characters.
Packed with slapstick comedy, spirited performances and plenty of wild-and-woolly fun, “Wild Oats” includes a whirlwind of outrageous twists, from long-lost family members finding their way home to an eccentric cavalry troop, a slippery preacher, a hard-nosed colonel with secrets scattered across the frontier and a daring hero capable of stopping a speeding train. Filled with quick-witted humor, larger-than-life personalities and nonstop surprises, “Wild Oats” affectionately spoofs the myths and legends of the American West while honoring the timeless comic structure that has delighted theatergoers for generations.
