ABOUT THE SHOW:
(HOLIDAY / PERIOD COMEDY)
“The unthinkable has happened. Mr. Scrooge’s heart has grown cold again. It’s been one year since we left ‘A Christmas Carol,’ and Ebenezer’s ‘bah humbug’ spirit is back — and this time, he’s suing for damages.
In this hilarious Christmas comedy, you are part of the jury as the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future take the stand to defend themselves against Scrooge’s accusations of breaking and entering, kidnapping, attempted murder, pain and suffering, and more.
Has Scrooge really returned to his old ways? Can he find true redemption… again? The surprising verdict may explain it all — and change the way you see Christmas forever!”
*This is a period show with a modern sense of humor. Set in 19th-century London, so accents and historical mannerisms (with modern sensibilities) are required.*

ROLES TO BE CAST:
We look forward to everyone auditioning, regardless of race, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
This is a 7-person play that often doubles up on characters. Thus, actors must be versatile and ready to play very different characters, depending on their casting.
- SCROOGE: The central character, a miserly bookkeeper in London who undergoes a transformative journey during the trial. Cold-hearted, intense. Must have a strong stage presence and the ability to portray both comedic and dramatic moments.
- SOLOMON ROTHSCHILD: The eloquent and confident defense attorney representing all the accused ghosts. Charismatic, confident, and authoritative. Strong speaking skills and the ability to command attention in the courtroom scenes are crucial.
- JACOB MARLEY / BOB CRATCHIT: Marley is Scrooge's deceased business partner who appears as a ghost to warn him. He is eerie, foreboding, ghoulish. Cratchit is Scrooge's loyal clerk at his business. He’s lived a hard life, but he’s sympathetic, humble, and warm.
- FRED / CHRISTMAS FUTURE: Fred is Scrooge's cheerful, uppercrust nephew who consistently invites Scrooge to Christmas dinner. He is bubbly, optimistic, and warm. Christmas Future is a mysterious figure who presents a bleak future if Scrooge does not change. He is ominous, imposing, and ghoulish.
- FAN / BELLE / CHRISTMAS PAST: Fan is Scrooge's sister who offers insight into his painful childhood. Belle is Scrooge's former love interest who testifies about their past relationship. Christmas Past is a gentle spirit who takes Scrooge through his past. Each role requires sensitivity and the ability to evoke nostalgia, sympathy, and emotional depth.
- MRS. CRATCHIT / MISS WAINWRIGHT / MRS. DILBER / TRANSLATOR: Mrs. Cratchit is Bob Cratchit's wife and the mother of the Cratchit children. She is warm, strong, and tough. Miss Wainwright is a community activist who solicits donations to help the poor, especially during Christmas time. She is determined and empathetic. Mrs. Dilber is Scrooge’s maid and one of the three people who steals from Scrooge after his “death.” She is a witness in the trial. The Translator converts the gibberish of the Ghost of Christmas Future into English. She is clear and understanding.
- JUDGE PEARSON: The grumpy judge presiding over the trial with a stern demeanor. He is tough and authoritative. Must be able to deliver lines with a no-nonsense attitude while also handling comedic moments.
- MR. CONNOLLY: The bailiff of the courtroom who offers a voice of hope despite the judge's pessimism. He is compassionate and optimistic. Requires the ability to bring warmth and humanity to the role, akin to Bob Cratchit.
