This lecture is based on diaries, letters, and other accounts from five men who wrote eyewitness accounts of the Texas Revolution as it played out across Southeast Texas in 1835-1836. Three of the five Hardin brothers from Liberty (and for whose family Hardin County is named), Virginia native William Fairfax Gray who described the Runaway Scrape between Harris County and through Southeast Texas into Louisiana, and Joseph Pulsifer himself who had settled in Beaumont — then called Santa Anna — in 1835. This talk will give a chronological synchronized account of the Texas Revolution along the route of the Opelousas Trail later branded as the Old Spanish Trail through Southeast Texas. This event is free and open to the public.
