"The Rocky Horror Picture Show" w/Live Shadowcast

For 50 years, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” has delighted audiences, and the Varsity is the new home for the film in Southern Illinois. Every screening will feature a “shadowcast” of the film. A shadowcast features performers acting in front of the screen during the film, performed by Varsity’s own in-house cast!

The first event is April 11. Doors and the Varsity Bar open at 11 on April 11 with the show at midnight.

This notorious horror parody – a fast-paced potpourri of camp, sci-fi and rock ‘n’ roll, among other things -- tracks the exploits of naïve couple Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) after they stumble upon the lair of transvestite Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry). The 1975 film -- a bizarre musical co-starring Meat Loaf and Richard O’Brien -- bombed in its initial release but later gained a cult following at midnight showings.

We welcome all RHPS virgins, but please don’t act like one! Do not throw objects at the screen; that’s just not cool and can damage a very expensive screen.

Approved prop bags will be sold for $5 at the door. We do not allow any outside props.
