NEW DATE: October 19 & 20, 2024!The Battleship NORTH CAROLINA, an authentically restored National Historic Landmark and WWII memorial, is hosting a new onboard Battleship enrichment October 19 & 20! “The Fleet is In” Navy Ship Model Show, by Curator Mary Ames Booker, combines historic exploration with precision craftsmanship for hands-on family fun.
Stationed in a normally off-route space, the Wardroom, this special location is temperature controlled and also possibly the most perfect rainy day activity! This historical ship model experience is FREE with admission purchase!
Model-making techniques that will be demonstrated include:
- Modern methods like 3-D printing
- Time-honored traditions such recreating special paint schematics
“The Fleet is In” is the perfect way to discover the nuance in design of WWII-era Battleships, Destroyers, Cruisers, Submarines and more.
The four guilds who will be demonstrating techniques and displaying impressive builds are:
• Eastern Carolina Plastic Modelers, New Bern
• N.C. Model Ship Builders, Rocky Mount/Wilson N.C.
• Wilmington Plastic Modelers
• New Bern Maritime Modelers Guild
