From its inception in 1880, through decades of construction, perilous maintenance and a legacy of nearly 2,000 shipwrecks, the film explores how this narrow two-mile gateway became both a graveyard and a lifeline. Today, it remains vital to $24 billion in regional commerce, standing as one of the Pacific Northwest’s greatest engineering feats. Where the mighty Columbia meets the Pacific, every ship’s passage is a test of human ingenuity against the relentless power of the sea. This is the remarkable story of how generations fought to tame the mouth of the Columbia River, preserving lives, forging trade and shaping the identity of an entire region.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Food and drinks for purchase: pizza, popcorn, and other concessions will be available for purchase, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Note that parking is free downtown after 6:00 p.m.
