The Board voted to support the recommendation of Dr. Johnson to remove the images and any elements related to the image at Webster and Central. She will be having a meeting with stakeholders, two in fact, this one and another in October. (She stated her invited stakeholders but notably did not include current students, alumni, parents or supporters other than those who supported the removal.) The meetings are however open to the public. Webster will always be Warriors according to the Board, but will need a new mascot image and branding. I personally have seen what someone adopted as the new floor of the Field House. Respectfully it does not convey any unity, identity or sense of being for this historic campus. In my opinion it is an slapstick, put lipstick on a pig version of new branding. If the City Flag is our identity and will be embedded in the Basketball court, the culture of this campus is again overlooked. Hopefully some artistic individuals can come up with something different, which unifies the Warriors, present and past.
