Join us to lift up the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray, whose writings and witness illuminate the struggle for dignity, justice, and selfhood within–and beyond–the limits imposed by law and custom.Her accomplishments include devising the legal theory used in Brown v Board, co-founding NOW, and ordination as the first African American female priest in the Episcopal Church.
Sincerely Yours, Pauli Murray is a new work, commissioned by several GALA Choruses, including New Wave Singers of Baltimore. This 10-movement dramatic cantata brings to life the story of the Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray. Pauli was a civil rights activist, lawyer, legal scholar, poet, and ordained Episcopal priest. Born in Baltimore in 1910, Murray’s work greatly influenced the civil rights movement and expanded legal protection for gender equality.
