About this Event
A shared affection for their hometown brought Paisley musicians, Neil Thomson and Evelyn Laurie, together with the goal of creating a collection of songs to celebrate the town’s rich heritage and colourful history.
For the past five years, they have carefully selected, written, recorded and produced an album of 12 songs which they will be launching at the Paisley Central Library on 21 November, accompanied by Fiona Cuthill on violin and John McGhee on guitar.
Called “Silver Threads”, this first full public performance of the collection will include songs by Paisley’s bard, Robert Tannahill and well known local folk artist, Danny Kyle, as well as several originals telling stories of the weaving industry, the infamous Espedair Burn, Paisley Pinks and local character, Tatabella.
Both successful singer songwriters in their own right, multi instrumentalist Neil, is commonly found in the folk world while Evelyn is more jazz influenced. This collaborative musical fusion has produced an album which is a fitting tribute to the town and one that will be enjoyed by ‘buddies’ at home and abroad!
